Continue reading »]]> With Halloween only a week and a half away Halloween Hotsheet has some important information to share with you and your child.

1st – When buying or making a costume be careful about the length of it. You don’t want to cause your child to trip. Also, if your child is going to be out in the dark light your child up some how. Use reflective tape on the costume, have them carry a fun Halloween flashlight or buy a glow stick of some kind. They have glow sticks that you can use as necklaces, around the wrist anything that will attract the eye of a person driving a car. Another trick I like is to put your child’s name and your telephone number on a sheet of paper and safety pin it to the inside of the costume in the back. That way if your child gets separated from you or the group they were with an adult can contact you to get your child safely back to you.

2nd – Talk to your child let them know that they should always stop and look for cars. It’s a simple but so easy piece of instruction. Also, never go where it is dark. Not down a dark alley for a short cut, not down a dark hallway in an apartment building. Not even to a house for trick and treating if the house light is not on. Darkness is danger!

3rd- Parents this tip is to you. Spend the day and evening with your children. Do not send them out trick and treating without you. An older sibling can be so dependable at any other time but not during a fun time when they are not paying the best of attention to what they themselves are doing. Sending your child in groups is ok if they are old enough but the best security for your child is your own eyes. The best supervision for your children is you!

4th – Candy safety. Kids who have been given the safety warning about candy may roll their eyes at you if you give that warning again this year. But they will remember it. Don’t eat the candy until you come home and it is checked. It is never ok to eat unwrapped candy and homemade goodies might look and smell great but there is too much of a risk of not knowing what is in the homemade goodie to eat it. Teach this mantra to your child, “Throw it out if it is not wrapped.” Fruit, is a great treat, just wash it good and then slice it before eating.

So, we have learned that personalized movies for your child are entertaining but also educational. Your child might not know that they were taught facts or a foreign language but as they come to new a new situation these little nuggets of information that their brain has unconsciously been storing can help in the situation. There are many times that a child who did not appear to be paying attention can give facts and information about the time and situation that is being discussed. Their minds work the same with educational information; you might not have thought they got anything out of these great DVD’s but an entertaining half hour. They now have some life skills that will serve them well in the future.

Hello, my name is Lisa Charleston and I’m the inventor of the “Night Helper Potty Watch”! I’m also a mom, wife, and grandmother and mom blogger. I worked in the medical industry for over 13 years as a Hospice/Homecare nurse until my injury back in 2002. I started my journey of inventing the “Night Potty Watch “in 2005 when I saw the need to help my youngest daughter who had suddenly started wetting the bed. Mind you, she was potty trained at a very young age …bedwetting was never an issue for us until the trauma of my injury started to effect her. Just to see the devastation on her face lead me to reach out to my husband so we both could find a solution to assist her and the millions of children who suffer from Nocturnal, Enuresis (bedwetting). One morning I awoke to her crying in the bath room, fearing to wake us because she had just had another bedwetting accident. I approached her with a smile and a hug and proceed to get her ready for school. Upon drinking my coffee and asking God to give me something else in my life to do where I could still reach out and help others. The concept of the devices came to me.

Three designs have been created. You set the timepieces every 3 hrs. Or as needed! The lights flashes, they glow in the dark, vibrate and they also have a customized jingle. All these features combined will alert the child letting them know it’s time to go! The time pieces can also be utilized to assist with reminding a child to take there medicine. The easy decoration is to take a glass flower vase that you have in the house and fill it full of misc. Halloween decorations.

Next, Scott used a candle tray that he already had. Then he added a Halloween decoration that he already had then added candles to it. It makes for a pretty decoration during the day and also at night with the candles lite.

Using another candle tray fill it with creepy crawly worms and spiders. You can add a candle to give it a little spookiness at night.

Also, if you don’t have any candle trays you can make the same effect in a decorative bowl.

To add a more adult elegant Halloween touch you can take a couple of decorative bowls and add the long tapered candles in orange or black if you can find them. Then add some small Halloween decorations making it a fun display for dinner and evening times.
